Welcome to the site of Alyssa Casey, artist and teacher.

I am passionate about drawing, handmade paper, and ways of unlocking the community building aspects of both.

I've studied with papermaking masters Professor Kamori in Brazil and Paul Wong of Dieu Donné Papermill, where I produced my own work and assisted on projects for other artists, including Do Ho Suh, Carl Fudge, and J. Fiber.

Through these studies, I have gained experience with many fibers - abaca, cotton, linen, sugar cane, and recycled paper - and have learned a variety of papermaking techniques.

I teach localized papermaking workshops. I have used garden hosta in Massachusetts and corn husks in central California.

Through my practice of drawing, sculpture, and workshop facilitation, I will continue to research and expand the boundaries of handmade paper as both a medium and creative resource for artists and the public.

Please enjoy, and thank you for visiting.
